Wish We Were There!!!

Hey you guys! Looks like you had great trip! Our weekend was fun ,although we didn't get in as much riding as we had hoped. Too much stuff going on and we had a chance to catch up with our friend Dale Ohde. Chris was thinking about meeting us in Gateway, when we were thinking about making that trip anyway.. but he had some inclement weather out of Durango that he didn't feel like dealing with. At any rate, fun was had by all of us also, but it's always fun spending it with all of you. Most of you leave for Vegas this week, so we'll have to wait to hook up with you on another ride, hopefully, weather permitting! Thanks Dud and Cj for posting to the blog. Maybe that will inspire others to start doing the same. I was actually in the process of adding the picture that Jake and Suzie e-mailed us this morning when I was pleasantly surprised to see that you beat me to it!!! YEA!!!! Let's keep it going. There's plenty of space for everyone!!
'Til next time.. Pammi and Disco!

Independence Pass 9/27/08

Hey friends; Jake organized a run (in Pammi's absence) on Saturday over Independence Pass to view the colors. We left Eagle and headed to the Pastime in Leadville where rain clouds loomed. After a beverage we headed up the hill where we met all of the weather elements, yes including snow. We stopped at the summit and took a few pictures and listened to the thunder roll and headed to Aspen for a fuel stop and then to Woody Creek for lunch. When we arrived in Glenwood Springs, it was time to shed a few layers and head to Docs for a beverage. Into the Glenwood Canyon it began to rain but we made it safe to our final destination The Brush Creek Saloon.

Duane's recap of "The Epic Adventure"

Hello everyone. I just wanted to let you know I made it safely back to Phoenix from the Milwaukee trip yesterday (Saturday) about 9:30 AM. The odometer on my bike read 5252 miles round trip since leaving my house 23 days ago. I left PHX on Thursday August 14th and rode 400 miles to Socorro, NM where I spent the first night. On the second day I rode to Taos, NM through Madrid, NM (where the movie 'Wild Hogs' was filmed). Ron Nardiello met me in Taos. The next day we had planned on riding together to Denver but with the heavy rain showers throughout the day we only made it to Canyon City where we decided to spend the night. We finished the 100 miles on into Denver the next morning under cloudy skies. I spent 4 days in Denver visiting the grandkids. Vickie flew to Denver on the 20th and we spent the night with Craig and Diana Chaney. Then on the morning of the 21st we hooked up with Craig & Karla McCully and 8 others from the Vail area and rode to Holdrege, KS. On the 22nd we rode to Des Moines, Iowa and spent the night at one of Denny Stoner's friends at a locally well known polo ranch. It was a beautiful location and we were treated to a great BBQ dinner and socialized with lots of new friends. We left early the next morning and rode on into Milwaukee. Just a few miles outside of Milwaukee, Vickie's sister Jennifer and brother-in-law Mark joined us (they live in Trevor, 40 miles SE of Milwaukee). They stayed at the same hotel with us that evening so they could join us for our ride around Lake Michigan. The next morning we all started out for our 3 day trip touring around Lake Michigan. We took the 4 hour ferry ride across the lake from Manitowacc, WI to Ludington, MI where we spent the night. Two friends of the group, Bob and Don, joined us at Ludington and helped us tour some great areas on our way to Traverse City, MI where we spent the night at the lovely lake home of Don Barnes on Long Lake. Bob took us all for a tour of the lake on his plantoon boat and then we were treated to a fabulous - all you could eat - steak and lobster dinner at a great local restaurant. (24 live lobsters were specially flown in from Florida where one of Bob and Don's friends had caught them just the day before). Bob and Don picked up the tab for the dinner. Needless to say we were all stuffed when we left the restaurant! The next day we continued with Bon and Don leading us enjoying some beautiful country around the coast of Lake Michigan. We crossed over the Mackinac Bridge (5 miles long) and spent the night in Manistique, MI. We arrived back at our hotel in Milwaukee the next day.Four days of the 105th Harley Anniversary rally was fun with lots of bikers, live bands and venders. The highlight was our tour of the Harley Museum that opened in May, 2008. We spent about 2.5 hours but could have spent the whole day looking at all the neat stuff! On the last night we went to see Bruce Springsteen. That was the first time I had seen him and as they promised he put on a great concert! On Sunday Aug, 1st we packed our stuff and rode 40 miles to Jennifer and Mark's home in Travor, WI. Spent Sunday night and Monday night with them. Mark took us on a tour boat around Lake Geneva where we were able to see a lot of the VIP's estate homes around the lake. Very impressive!I left Trevor Tuesday AM on the bike and Vickie flew back to Phoenix on Wednesday. I had purchased a GPS just before leaving on the trip and used it to route myself on off-roads to avoid freeways. I was able to see some nice country on the two lane roads and only was on the freeways about 250 miles. As I traveled through the panhandle of Oklahoma, I stopped at Tyrone where I actually found the little house that I lived in in 1949! I was only about 3 or 4 years old - but I can still remember it - It is still standing! I took four full days for the trip back to PHX. I stayed in Payson (100 miles from home) on Friday evening because it was just too darned hot (108 degrees in the valley) to continue. I had already ridden over 525 miles that day and I was ready for a break. The ride into town the next morning was much cooler and I was much more rested. (1984 miles from Trevor, WI).After over 5200 miles by back ached a little but my butt really is not that tired! I really enjoyed the trip and was able to experience it with good friends and meet a few more friends along the way.I'm still ready to ride some more!

Michigan / Milwaukee 105th 2008

Hi everyone!!! I've put together this blog for our group of riding buddies. I have invited all of you to join the free blogger site so you can add your thoughts, ideas, and pictures from trips we have taken and ones for the future. I have titled this one the Michigan / Milwaukee 105th. If you would like to add anything from past trips or occasions, feel free to do so but please try and title them accordingly so we can keep everything straight. If blogging is new to you, you're not alone. Just do the best you can and have fun. I will be adding our additions to this posting very soon. I have yet to look through all of our pictures from Milwaukee so hang tight. Have fun with this and we'll see ya soon.
Sincerely, Pammi and Denny.
